Great ways to spend time in Newbury

One of Berkshire's largest towns, Newbury is a perfect place for a short break or day out. It offers a great choice of things to do and a great variety of shops as well as recreational ways in which to be able to hang out in your spare time. Newbury has a fresh, rural atmosphere combined with great shopping facilities and attractions. It also has its lovely grass parkland adjacent to the Kennet.

When it comes to eating and drinking there are a variety of great independent pubs along the river, all of which are well worth a visit. You can simply take in the canal and the tranquil setting this can offer all whilst sipping on a cold and refreshing drink. 

The countryside surrounding Newbury is part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Kennet and Avon Canal in terms of where it is situated runs right through the district from the outskirts of Reading to down to Hungerford. There are also great things to do such as going to the racecourse or taking a visit to the restored Shaw House. Going over towards Overton / Laverstoke, Bombay Sapphire is just a stone's throw away so why not take in the crystal clear water and beautiful natural surroundings as you walk along the River Test.
