In order to produce an e-book people will want to buy you first have to answer 2 questions: do you want to stick to your area of expertise and what you are known for or have already built a brand,How Can I Create an E-book That People Will Want to Buy? Articles following, or platform around OR do you want to branch off into something either related or entirely new?

After answering that question, you have to determine what the need for your e-book is. Why would people want to read and buy your e-book? What sort of information and knowledge can you provide that people need? That they many not be able to get elsewhere? Or that you have exclusive knowledge about? Or that solves a pressing problem?

In general, most e-books are of a self-help nature, which means they solve a problem by giving readers some practical tips and tools that they can use. Let’s say it’s a book on dog training for Rottweilers. Dog owners of this breed may have a problem training them and instead of taking them to a trainer or training class would like to do it on their own. If this were your field of expertise and experience, your e-book could provide practical actions to take to train Rottweilers. If there are enough people in this niche market—and you can do the research to find out—then your e-book could be very popular.

As you can see, the e-book market tends to attract the do-it-yourselfer. If you look at the topics of most e-books, they tend to be educational in nature. Sometimes, they are more informational, as they are used as a lead-in to get the reader to buy another product or service from the Internet marketer that will be a more in-depth guide to helping the reader solve their problem.

If you’re still wondering: What should I write about? then I would suggest you do some research. If you decide to stick with your area of expertise, consider what kinds of problems you have encountered with your clients and customers over the years, and how you have solved them. You have years of accumulated knowledge that you can turn into a valuable e-book that can help a lot more people than you have been able to help one-on-one. You are an expert in your field, whether it is legal matters, financial matters, hair care, real estate, health, or how to write an info-product! You can offer solutions to problems because you have solved them before.

If you are venturing into unknown territory, say a brand new area not related to your expertise, but that you see a need for, do some research. Run a survey and see if there’s a need. Check out the competition by doing keyword research.

As a writing expert, several years ago I decided to strike out in a different direction and I wrote an e-book on hybrid cars. That’s way far afield from my area of expertise, but I saw a need, I ran surveys, I checked out the competition and did a ton of research. So basically, if you want to create an e-book that people will buy find a big problem people have and offer solutions. That’s it! Most e-books and other info-products are solutions to problems. At least, the most successful ones are. The biggest selling e-books and info-products on the Internet teach people how to make money online, at home, or in a particular kind of business; or they show people how to lose weight, look more attractive, or find that special someone. Or they are about a specific niche like training Rottweilers, potty training toddlers, or improving your golf game.

See where you can fill a gap, and create a niche. See if there’s a big enough market. Mark Victor Hansen advises people to “get rich in their niche.” A narrow niche with a hungry audience whose needs are not being served is perfect for your e-book that people will be clamoring to buy.
