In the early days of CAD, a renowned architect once, in a presentation, made a sustained case about a certain design decision he took against the prevalent norms. It was about creating a more open office look at the cost of sacrificing individual privacy by lowering partition heights. To demonstrate his point, he came to the next slide, which, much to his dismay showed the prevalent norm of higher partitions. Sheepishly he apologized, “Sorry, computer error”.
