1.  Be respectful of their schedule- In any office there are a ton of people who work together and take care of a specific role to make sure that everything runs smoothly. If your question could be handled with an email you should do your best to email them so that they can get back to you when their schedule permits. 2.  Take some time to get to know each other- Another great way to get along better with your coworkers is to take some time to get to know them. You should consider taking them out to lunch, or setting aside a little time after work to spend with them and get to know them on a personal level. It is important to show your coworkers that you are interested in what is going on in their life, not just getting things done at work. To be interesting you have to be interested and if you develop a friendship with your coworkers it will be easier to get through stressful situations that may arise at work.

3.  Set upfront expectations- One of the best ways to handle difficult situations with your coworkers is to set good upfront expectations with them. It is important that you establish a relationship of trust with them so that you can talk with them when something is bothering you and when things need to be discussed. It it good to let your coworkers know that they can discuss difficult things with you, even if it is something that they don’t think you would want to hear. It is important to develop an open relationship with your coworkers so that your office is a place where you can achieve the best results possible. You need to be open to feedback both good and bad.

 

Fixing or avoiding problems all together can save you a lot of headaches in the workplace. With all of the normal stress that comes with any job, there is no reason why you should have to add one the stress of trying to get along with a coworker.
