Filtration is the process by which suspended particles are separated from the fluid. It can be done physically or mechanically. Filtration is important to make the fluids clear of dust or other particles which might hinder its usage. The solid particles that are separated forms a dry cake which can be easily removed.

Its usage is extremely important in the food and beverage industries as the presence of solid particles in the food would make it dangerous for consumption.
