Locksmith- a person who makes or repairs locks. These May be working on a small or large level depending on all sorts of skills or tools that they may possess. One example can be of a locksmith who works on a commercial level i.e. owning small shop or stand. Some Lock smiths don’t work on a shop front but prefer mobile trade as that allows them to move from one place to another where ever the can find work and carry all their equipment with them.

Such Lock smiths are highly qualified and possess several Cognitive skills then just that of the knowhow of locks.

This is probably the most Prestigious of all the type of Ways that a Locksmith can Practice his Profession.The Lock And its Quality i.e. level of security is very closely related to that of a door on which it is Fixed, Thus another Skill that goes hand in hand with this one is the knowhow of door mechanisms, of the door Hardware like Door closes, Hinges, Frame repairs and any additional Hardware all depending on the type of door as well.Very Often Locksmiths Only Specialize In one skill for example many prefer specializing in automotive Lock system other examples of such field of Specialization are Master key system or safe experts.One other Profession very closely linked to Locksmithing is that of a security consultant since both are concerned with the same sort of target to be achieved. I.e. safety but not every Security Consultant can possess all of the skills that a lock smith has.

Within a trade Locksmiths are required to be certified in specific Areas of skill and sometimes levels of skills too. These are two different areas the former deals with the completing of all the training courses necessary to become a locksmith and obtaining the required certificates while the latter deals with obtaining the Certifications from associations of locksmiths and sometimes Credible Manufacturers. Both these Authorities have a set of requirements to be met before anyone is allotted with certificates.Many Locksmiths find it very Prestigious to call them “Master locksmiths” even if they are not fully trained and not possessing all the certifications.A lock smith would be dealing with as small a deal as that of making a duplicate key for a typical house wife who has lost keys to a door or a cabinet to as complicated and higher level Deals as that of designing a Complex Security System for an Organization. Hence this profession has a large range of income generation.
