It's easy to imagine that most offices are pretty similar in nature. After all, they are likely to involve a number of desks, plenty of chairs, a few computers and a number of employees! Such a basic description ignores the fact that there is actually an enormous amount of variation out there.

In some senses, it can be said that part of the role of management is to ensure that you get maximum levels of productivity from employees, in order to ensure that customers receive great levels of service. One way to achieve this is by looking to ensure that employees are happy and that they are receiving all of the help that they need.

When viewed in this context, it can be seen that the working environment has two roles to play within the process. There is a highly practical role of needing to make sure that everything that is necessary to carry out a job is provided. This tends to be the area that most people concentrate on.

It's clearly something that's important, but there can be no doubt that there is also a need to look beyond these factors. In essence, you need to consider whether the surroundings inspire others, or whether they only serve to depress them.
