Virtual reality is used to place people within the body of a patient, enabling them to perceive touch and body sensations and to interact with a real-life version of themselves. This enables a greater level of medical diagnosis, accurate treatment, and more favorable outcomes for patients.
The use of VR in medicine is not new. In fact, research was first initiated nearly 15 years ago using similar technologies.
