Bonuses are fun when it is time to go to the bank and cash that check, but they really aren't that big a deal once that money is spent. Giving bonuses to your employees seems like a great deal at first, but it might be better to give the workers something that they can always use, such as a free promotional item for your company. Not only will you employee be able to use it all year, but it also provides you with free advertising if it is something that can be used in public and has your company logo on it.

Every employee with common sense knows that they are always being watched and monitored and it makes them self-aware, not always for the best. When they see fellow employees being honored for their work, that might just inspire them to work harder themselves. No one wants to be the least rewarded employee in their department.

Sometimes it helps to set goals so that employees can measure their work against their co-workers. As long as the goals and standards aren't set at an impossible goal, the employees usually love the chance to compete against each other and you will be able to see the results immediately. No employee wants to see their totals as the lowest in the department.

There are plenty of other ways that can bring a better morale to the company, but making your employees happy is the best way to ensure that things are going on all cylinders and that everyone is happy. Because, remember, a happy employee is a better employee and the results will pay off in the long run.
