The gum is not soluble in the majority of hydrocarbon solvents. The seeds are milled, de husked and screened to get the guar gum. The end product is free-flowing, spotless, off-white power.

Guar gum is also referred to as guaran,Nature’s synthesis with science in the form of guar gum Articles and is mainly the core endosperm pertaining to guar beans.  As regards to the trade and commerce of guar gum, the bean is mainly grown in India and Pakistan, with lesser growth in U.S.A, China, Africa and Australia. India is the largest producer of the bean with 80 per cent of the global production, and the gum is implemented as a controlling medium in oil ores and wells to enable smooth drilling and prevent the loss of fluid.

The chemical composition of the substance is a polysaccharide which is made of mannose and sugars galactose. There is a liner chain backbone of mannose residues and galactose remnants, which are organically linked to one another, making short-side channels. Pertaining to the viscosity and solubility of the guar gum, it is more soluble in comparison to the locust bean, and is a much better stabilizer with more branch points. It is not self-gelling, but calcium or borax can cause it to gel. In aquatic purview, it is non-ionic, and remains unaffected by ionic vigor, but break downs at extreme ph levels. Strong acids can create hydrolysis and effectuate viscosity loss, like alkali which tends to decline in viscosity under rabid concentration.

The economical precedent of the guar gum comes from its eight times hydro-thickening capacity, where a subtle portion is required for making adequate viscosity. You can thus use it many multiphase formulations in the garb of an emulsifier as it helps in preventing oil droplets from clogging. A stabilize mode also helps to stop solid substances from settling within the periphery. The manufacturing process of the beans depends upon the necessity of the end product, and different processing maneuvers are used likewise. The commercial manufacturing of guar gum generally incorporates roasting, sieving, differential attrition and due polishing. The edible gums are manufactured in different stages with the split selection being crucial in this case. The soaked splits with considerably high moisture quotient are put through flakers.  The flaked split is dried and the powder is screened via rotary screens to make the required shape. Over sized and over indulged ones are either reground in another regrinding plant or recycled to ultra fine product.

The industrial applications are huge, and go into fishing, sizing and printing. It is used in improving sheet formation and folding surface for printing in the paper industry, and the explosives industry use it as waterproofing medium. It also has a huge take in the pharmaceuticals, cosmetic and mining industries alongside varied food applications. The fenugreek seed is another annual plant cultivated as a partly-arid crop, and is a common component and ingredient in Indian sub continental dishes with due medicinal value.
