Read These Guidelines Before You Move Out Of Your Apartment

There is more to just moving out of your apartment when your lease expires. Unless your paying cash in advance each month, you probably signed a contract and included your social security number or that of a co-signer. And if you put down a security deposit, you probably want to get it back. There are certain guidelines that you should follow before you just leave. 

Do You Know When Your Lease Contract Expires

If you signed a 12 month lease, you should know that you simply cannot move out of your apartment home without offering the appropriate notice. This means that you will have to inform your landlord or management company that you will be leaving the community. Be sure to do this in writing or email. That way you have some proof that you did so. Many times communities with hundreds of units will get extremely busy, so its best not to offer your notice by email.

If you forget to give your notice then you will have to stay the extra time as stated in the contract.    Of course you could move out, but you will be assessed certain fees. If you have to move, be sure and find out what you must pay in advance so there are no surprises.

Is Your Apartment Home Damaged

Remember when you first moved into your apartment home? It was probably clean and all the appliances were working. When you exit your apartment home, it should be in the same condition it was as when you moved in. If it't not clean, you can expect a cleaning fee to be assessed.

The easy way is just to hire a professional cleaning service. Ask your apartment manager who they hire. If you use the same company, you can be sure to know that they will do a good job. If you try and do it yourself to save a few bucks, you might not bring the apartment home back up to the original standards.
