It’s important for a lot of people to live in a good neighborhood,Real Estate and Demolition Articles one that offers things like access to good schools, safe neighborhoods, and often access to nice amenities and restaurants. For interested parents, a good school system is something of a holy grail. The problem is that it can be expensive to move into a good neighborhood. This has lead to what might be considered a strange practice in some of Annapolis, Maryland’s neighborhoods, namely the process of buying a lot with a bad, or run down house and having a demolition company clear the lot.

This makes no sense on one level; shouldn’t an empty lot logically cost less than one with a house, even if it’s run down? That makes sense, but at the same time if the house needs demolition it adds cost and inconvenience, for those who can wait it out while their new house gets built it actually can be cheaper than buying an empty lot, and is much cheaper than buying one with a nice house on it.

People are usually willing to go to these extents because they want to insure a good education for their children. Good school systems matter, you want one with funding enough to provide the things you want for your child, and with a good operating philosophy. You want to avoid the schools that are overly budget focused and will play weird games with your children’s education to secure extra funding. Finding a truly good education system is rare in some areas, this drives the desire for a house in certain towns way up. It also drives the price up which makes the tactic of buying the cheapest house, hiring demolition, then rebuilding a new house on the lot, one that real estate companies have started to use. The idea is to find a lot with a house that’s functionally not safe to live in anymore, and call the demolition company in Annapolis, Maryland in then. The unusable house will have driven the price of the lot below what it would have been if the lot had been empty. If you have the time, it can let you get the house you want in the neighborhood you want.

The other advantage for parents to taking this approach is that it can move them into a neighborhood that’s safe. It’s nice knowing that the area is safe at night, and that there’s less likelihood of random crime and less threats to the child. It’s also just a nice feeling knowing you can go out at night without fear.
