One such issue is the weight of the tree pushing down on the chain of the saw causing it to catch and jam.

Then there’s the elephant in the room. What do you do, even if you know how to cut through the trees properly, there’s the issue of what you do when the tree when it falls. You need to have a controlled fall, and if the tree is too big, it’s not just an issue of cutting it down at the base and having some chain to guide the fall. Let’s say though you even know what you’re doing when it comes to clearing the trees out. What do you do with the stumps?

The sheer amount of labor, questions, and safety issues involved in excavating a yard is staggering, and requires real examination by a homeowner. You have to have a realistic appraisal of what you can and can’t do safely. You also have to admit unless you have a flat yard with only some stones small enough to carry you will end up calling in a professional excavating company. If you live in a densely arboreal area like the area around Annapolis, MD you will have a messy, often hilly and rocky yard to clear. The real question is when to call in the professionals, not if. Your task is to know what you can do, and who you should call for the work you will need to get done.
