For people who are on the phone all day, a mirror may not be a bad idea.

The next thing you can do is make sure you are using the right tone of voice as it creates a certain atmosphere on the phone. This way, you can even control upto a certain degree how the person on the other side will react with what you are saying to them. You need to ask yourself these: Is your phone conversation strictly business? Is it lighter or personal? Your tone and voice inflections will create an impression and help the person on the other end to better understand be more accommodating to what you are telling them.
