Its 2010, the noughties are over and it’s the start of a new decade. A decade of which social networking is going to take up a whole new massive purpose. The past 10 years have seen a new age of communication between young people emerge, in the past 3 years however it has went further than that and not only have all of these social networking sites appeared from nowhere but have built a huge world-wide community of not just young people, but older people, children, businesses, celebrities, etc that can communicate for free via the internet. So what happens when you get 50 million people in one place? Businesses catch on and use it as an opportunity to reach out. Many businesses are using this as a new form of advertising and getting their message across to specific people that they want to target. It isn’t like the old days where you would put an ad in a magazine and hope for the best. This is a bit of a waste of time but does still work for some people, as it is 2010 there is technology out there where you can target who you need too by what their interests are and then do not waste valuable money advertising to people who just plain aren’t interested.It is also helping business networking. Before social Medias and networking sites, businesses would just network face to face, go to meetings, this just means that you wouldn’t have been meeting the people you could potentially meet with access to the internet. You would still gain useful contacts but maybe not as much as if there where worldwide contacts at your fingertips, don’t get me wrong you would have still met a lot of people but the business networking opportunities through social networking have so much more of a overall positive result. You could meet people you would have actually never have even known existed before from all the way across the world and it is completely free. This is why social networking sites are in fact the future for businesses because millions and millions of people have come together and well, networked. The more business contacts you make online then the more recommendations you are going to get or at least friend requests from potential future business, you can have them all in one place and if you ever need a service or vice versa then they are there to contact without having to dig out a business card and call them. You can also promote services or promotions your business is having online via status updates or private messages, this will reach everybody you are connected too on the networking site and it is a much easier way to explain what is going out without having to ring hundreds of contacts. It could be a case that none of your contacts need a service from you but they know somebody who does. All they would need to do is get their contact to add you and get in touch. And it is as simple as that. The recommendation could be from somebody who you met through online networking, you would have never met them before you could network online. So it proves that social networking has really truly helped businesses expand and flourish.
