The Proper Environmental Permits

Many jobsites that are constructing new buildings, renovating older buildings, or manufacturing new materials on an everyday basis require obtaining the proper Environmental Permits first.  An Environmental Consultant can help guide your company through the process and obtain the proper permits the first time, to ensure the rest of the process starts in a timely manner.

A new construction project can require obtaining the proper air monitoring to ensure that materials are not being lifted into the wind and carried away at harmful levels.  The land use must be approved for the intended utilization of the new building.  The waste from the new construction must also be disposed of in the proper ways.

Renovating older buildings have different challenges than new construction projects.  The intended use must fall within the guidelines of what the government views as acceptable in the area.  The air should be monitored for dust and other harmful materials that are being released.  Some areas may require testing for lead or asbestos to ensure healthy working environments for the construction crew.  A remediation crew may be required to remove any hazardous conditions that exist in the building.  Water usage and storm water must be taken into account when obtaining the proper permits for the project.

The daily operations of a manufacturing facility present different hurdles than a new construction project or renovating an existing building.  Construction on either of the previous examples is not occurring on a daily basis.  Most of the permits required will revolve around the emissions of the plant during the process of the daily activities performed.  Emissions of gases released will need air permits that are based in the Clean Air Act.  Hazardous waste must be properly documented and disposed of, typically by transporting to a different facility.

It is crucial to involve an Environmental Consultant to ensure your company has the right permits on many of the different types of job sites mentioned above.  The process of obtaining permits can take time, and the wrong permits can delay the project substantially.  Therefore, it is imperative that the proper preparations be made at the beginning of the process to ensure the permits are obtained in an efficient manner.  Click here to contact an Environmental Consultant to work with your company on the next upcoming projectArticle Search, or to help with existing projects.  Any violation that OSHA finds can result in heavy fines and costly delays.
