This tendency makes lots of young people in 1990s aspire to become as successful Bill Gates. But the fact is that few of them could really reach such a status. Then those reports about the success stories were deeply doubted because people couldn't understand that why those before famous companies become successful so easily. What on earth is the most important element to success among the following four things opportunity, wisdom, knowledge as well as cooperation? They are sure to be rather important but in fact perseverance and faith should be put a higher place if you expect to become successful. Generally, for a company, from the little one in the beginning, it develops gradually till the big one. But in 21st century, the internet appears, owing to internet, it becomes easier for people to establish their own companies. While if a company aspires to become famous, it is still rather difficult. For example, Nike Company has experienced a lot to reach such a status.
In University of Oregon, there was a track coach, Bill Bowerman; and Philip Knight, his athlete. in January 1964, the two people set up a company, named Blue Ribbon Sports. Later, it changed its name to Nike. In 1967, a formal agreement was reached between Knight and Bowerman, and then, BRS Inc became a registered company. They employed Jeff Johnson as their first full-time salesman in 1965 and opened the first retail store for their company in the second year. The name Nike which was thought out by Johnson in 1971 was applied to the company's first shoes which were actually soccer cleats and designed the "Swoosh" mark to those shoes.
People were deeply attracted by those Nike shoes. Then the company developed a lot and opened its first retail shop in Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, California. Bowerman worked out the unique soles of running shoes through the innovative experiment in which he poured a liquid rubber into his wife's waffle iron. Then Nike company offered the Nike "Moon Shoes" which were characterized by Waffle soles to the athletes who took part in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., in 1972.
Nike company adapted its development way to the needs of customers according to the research. For more and more famous athletes, when they played games, they chose Nike shoes. Runner Mark Covert was the first athlete who won the game with Nike shoes on his feet. Nike Company invited Ilie Nastase who was a very famous professional Romanian tennis player to advertise its products and this superstar began wear Nike shoes to play games.
The above story has proved that Nike company has strived a lot and owned firm faith in its course of development.
