The very essence of being a prepared traveler is making sure you are for the most part relatively self reliant when seeking out new adventures in life, especially at far distant locals.

Most savvy travelers always have a list of items they will never leave home without,Travel Uses. Articles and for many experienced travelers, even including those shirt and tie business travelers, duct tape is always very much at the top of that list. Duct tape is a cloth adhesive tape that is thankfully much more easily ripped than cut, so maybe you never need a cutting tool to make good use of it. It’s has three layers in it’s body of construction.

The polyethylene which is the top side, then there is the fabric mesh at the center, and then the adhesive backing. This three layer formula is why duct tape which is such a very tough and durable type of tape. Originally known by and called duck tape due to it’s waterproof properties it was green colored like the colors of most duck’s backs.

These days the typical silver colored tape gets its nick name from it’s use as a tape for fixing duct work, but it’s durability, it’s amazing stickiness, and it’s overall flexibility has made it very popular for any and all kinds of uses. This tape even has it’s own fan club named the duct tape guys, and they constantly publish a range of medical uses for the tape having nick named it HMO on a roll. Search them on the internet. It is well worth the reading time.

Normal daily wear and tear can cause all types of items to bear damage or to break in one way or another, but if a traveler is counting on that item to be usable in one piece and functional in the way intended, duct tape often times resolves the issue and comes to the rescue. Fix broken luggage handles for awhile, or keep your sealed and closed properly if the zipper breaks . Fix a hem in your pants or skirt for a day or two. That is very helpful if you’re already late for a meeting or some type of tour group event that you have planned months before hand.

Fixing damaged things is all connected to the roots of duct tape’s creation, but so is sealing items that might be leaking things on you. Seal leaking things. There are so many reasons why a traveler would want to seal something up on the road, and duct tape is always the perfect temporary repair when something has burst. Yes it is not so very fashionable, but who cares in a pinch?

We’ve even heard stories that duct tape is a great tool for sealing the doors and air vents of a home in case of a tragic fire in an effort to keep smoke out of an area needed for clear breathing until the emergency response arrives. It would clearly work better and be more useful than wet towels.
