This article will explainsthe main parts which make up the plumbing system, and whose knowledge is important.

A plumbing system in a home consistof three parts, vent pipes, the sewer lines and drainpipes and the traps. These three parts are the heart and soul of the plumbing system and anyone of these can create a problem, so one needs to know that what these pipe does and how can they be repaired. The vent pipes are the pipes which are usually present at the roof topsof the buildings. These pipes are responsible for allowing the air to enter the sewer pipes so that they can drain freely and without any problem. These vent pipes can be connected to every individual pipe present inhome or it can be connected to a group of fixture, it all depends upon the choice of the plumber and how much money is he givento get the job done.

It so happens that a draining problem occurs and people assume that it is caused due to a clog while that problem is caused due to problem in a vent pipe. So it is a good habit to check that whether there is any problem with the vent pipe or not. The second part is the sewer lines and drainpipes. These pipes are responsible for carrying all the sewage from the house and deliver or direct it to the main sewage pipelines from where it goes to the dumping facilities. These pipes can often get clogged; however, many people are quick to judge that the problem may be due to the blockage in the main pipes and call up a plumber while the problem lies in the clean out plugs that might be sticking out of the wall in basement or might be present at the end of the garden.

Once this plug is located, then clean it with the auger and most of the time the problem is solved. The third part is the traps, which is present under the sinks. The trap basically holds some water in the “U” shaped fixture so that the harmful fumes from the drain pipes don’t enter the home, however, these traps gets blocked due to hair, soap scum or children toys. The first indication that the trap is getting blocked is that the water stops or flows very slowly, so at these indications, at once change the trap and this will solve the problem.
