What Do I Need To Bring To Fill Out My Apartment Application

So you have finally found the apartment of your dreams and your ready to fill out the application. But you should be ready with all of your personal information so this process can go smooth. We have listed some information you will need in order to fill out the application in its entirety. You will want to prove to the apartment communities that your a reliable renter and stable. 

Social Security Number

Many renters are afraid to provide their Social Security Number on the application. But don’t be. This is standard in the approval process. They will need you SSN to run a background and credit check. Most apartment manager would like reliable renters with income and a criminal free background. 

Paycheck Stubs and Bank Statements

The community that will be processing your application will want you to prove that you make enough money to pay the rent on a monthly basis. If your self employed they will ask for bank statements. So have these ready in case you are. 

Pay stubs will be required if you are employed by a corporation or smaller company. Some credit reports will who whether you can afford the apartment. But pay stubs are required by most apartment communities today. If you have a new job, a letter from your employer may be sufficient. Just be sure and be upfront with the manager or leasing agent.

Checkbook

Many people tour apartments and claim they are ready to lease, but when its time to fill out the application, they don’t have their checkbook.  If you are serious about applying to an apartment community. Bring your checkbook with you. Most likely its a modest fee (usually around $50). This will cover the cost of running your complete background check.

You may also be asked to write a check for the security deposit. This will allow you to secure the unit of your choice. Remember that many apartments go fast.
