Workplace safety is a very hot topic right now in the news.  People want to be certain that companies are creating safe environments for their employees to work in.  After all,What Does an Environmental Consultant Do? Articles work is where most people spend a majority of their time.  Working environments should be a place where employees can come and do the job they are paid to do without being concerned about getting injured or knowing how to perform their job properly. There is a profession that dedicates their time to ensuring the safety of the employees and the environment they spend the majority of their time.  These professionals are called Certified Safety Professionals (CSP).  A CSP can do many things, they can inspect different plants to ensure that all OSHA requirements are being met; they can also help train employees on the OSHA safety standards.  But another job they are well equipped to do is making sure that not only are the employees safe on the inside, they can also write programs that help the facility protect the environment.Every company is different; they all produce or contribute to a different end product.  Sometimes these during the manufacturing of these different products certain chemicals are being used.  These chemicals can be for the most part safe.  They may be as mild as the shampoo sold at a drug store, or they may be more hazardous.  If a chemical could pose a threat to anybody the manufacturer will produce what is known as a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).  Some shampoos have a MSDS sheet, just in case someone has an allergic reaction then it is easy to find the different ingredients and identify what could be causing the reaction. All the chemicals at a plant must be accounted for and tracked.  They are typically logged into something called a chemical inventory.  This way if there were ever a question about what chemicals are being handled then the company has all the information on hand with the MSDS.  If there are extremely hazardous chemicals on hand then a company might be required to file what is known as a Tier II and a Form R report.  Getting your chemicals inventoried and filing a Tier II and Form R are all things that a CSP can do when they are acting as your Environmental Consultant.Tier II’s are very important as they are filed not only with the proper authorities on chemicals but they are also give to the fire department.  This is another measure that would help the fire fighters to know what type of chemicals might be inside a building when responding to a call.If you feel like you need an Environmental Consultant to come out and perform a chemical inventory and possibly fill out a Tier II and Form R, then click hereto find the nearest environmental health and safety firm near you.
