Oil companies are now using helicopters on a daily basis to move workers and parts quickly to remote drilling sites. The speed over boats makes the cost of operating a helicopter cost effective for business and industry.

Law enforcement agencies have now begun to use helicopters for traffic control, and to pursue suspects. They are often mounted with lighting and heat sensing equipment for night pursuits as well. It is common for television stations to use helicopters for traffic reports, and as a quick tool to travel to news spots quickly and safely.
