Wheel Chair Lifts:  To Show You Care

It might not seem like it,Wheel Chair Lifts: To Show You Care Articles but wheel chair lifts are truly gifts that show you care about your loved ones in an intimate way. Does one of your loved ones use a wheelchair?  Isn't it terribly difficult for them to maneuver the stairs?   Maybe it's because of an injury or illness or just the fact that they've grown older. Either way, it might be increasingly difficult to climb stairs. A chair lift will allow that person to continue living with some sense of independence, and yet give you the peace of mind that they are safe.

But what if the cost of wheel chair lifts is beyond your means? In that case, consider shopping the secondary market. One thing that a lot of people don’t consider is how tough it may be on someone in that situation.  If your not in a wheelchair you don’t realize the many different obstacles that someone needs to overcome.  Thankful there has been many technological advances and these greatly help those in need.

One major area of concern however, is that many people cannot afford some of these technological advances, luckily many of these products can be purchased used.  They could be affordable to you and it could be just what you need to make your life a little less stressful.

All wheelchair lifts operate in much the same fashion; you either walk on to, roll on to, or simply sit on the lift platform.  You then just push a button to your desired destination, much in the same as an elevator works.  The lift will guide you along the stairway or steps along the tracks that have been installed along the stairwell.  There are two basic models of lifts, one a rechargeable battery operated and the other an electric model that you just plug into the wall.

If you are interested in purchasing a used stair lift the best place to look first is from the manufacturers of new stair-lifts.  They often are the place to get them at or put you in touch with someone.  They are also in the business of leasing or renting stair lifts.  If you are in a situation where you may only use the lift until you have fully recovered, many businesses allow leasings.

Before your purchase of a pre-owned wheelchair lift, make sure that you have researched everything possible about the company that you will be purchasing from.  You don’t want to be dealing with a bad company you want someone that has a great reputaion in the industry and can be trusted to insure your safety.  Also make sure to read out every contract before you sign anything, be absolutely sure that you are getting what you are paying for.  Figure out if there is an extended warranty or perhaps in insurance policy that you can get for the wheelchair lift.

To insure your loved one's  safety, it would be best to contact several distributors of wheel chair lifts and compare and contrast the different models. Two of the most respected names in the industry are Bruno and Welland Portable.  Be sure to check into all the risks of your purchases before you buy.  If you do find something you like, and the chances are pretty good you will, then you will be moving around like old times before you know it.
