From courier work to project management, logistics employs women in all sectors. Come celebrate women in the industry at the Charity Ball and Awards Night.

Are you a woman involved in courier work,Who Will Be The Next Superstar Woman in Logistics? Articles or indeed in any sector of the logistics industry? Then, perhaps, you could become the Next Superstar Woman in Logistics. On 17th June this year, from 19:00 to 22:30 in St. John’s Hotel, Solihull, the Charity Ball and Awards Night 2016 will take place to honour women in the industry. This is the fifth year running that this event has happened, and it continues to be a growing success.

Who Can Enter

Anyone can enter in any of the four categories, which are Young Woman of the Year, Company of the Year, Diversity Champion of the Year and Leader of the Year. Women from all areas of logistics can enter or are entered by other people, whether they are involved in IT, project management, courier work, HR or any other relevant sector.

If you want to nominate someone, you must go to the home page www.womeninlogistics.org.uk and follow the hyperlink to the category you are nominating for. The rest is self-explanatory. Entries must be submitted before 22nd April, otherwise they will not be considered.

What Happens At the Event

The event is a very special affair, with the award ceremony the definitive highlight. Complementing the awards will be a fabulous dinner accompanied by fine wine (Muscadet, Luneau-Papin 2013 and Côtes du Rhône, Andre Brunel 2013) provided by Fortnum & Mason, a quality raffle, live music from ‘The Talent’, and great opportunities for networking.

Networking is key in this business, especially if you are just starting out, have just set up a new business, or are involved in self-employed courier work. It is events like these that give you the chance to create contacts, form relationships and, very importantly, check out the competition.

The majority of ticket proceeds, once costs have been paid, will go to the worthwhile charity Transaid. Helping communities across the world access life-saving medical care and improving road safety, this charity is doing some wonderful work. The remainder of the proceeds will go to Women in Logistics.

Women In Logistics in Brief

Set up in 2008 to support women in all sectors of logistics, this organisation aims to give women the chance to meet others in the same business and engage with current trends in the industry. There is a mentoring programme and several events throughout the year, one of the most prestigious being the Charity Ball and Awards Night.
