No matter where you live or work,Who's Keeping You Safe? Articles you probably could benefit from a security system. A security system can’t prevent crime but it can be very effective in deterring crime from happening. If you ask any criminal offender why they committed a crime they will probably tell you the reason was they could. You may not be able to control every element needed for a crime to occur in the first place, but you can control the criminal’s opportunity to commit a crime involving you.

A security system accomplishes this by making crime a little less opportune. Most burglars for example are looking for an easy entrance in to commit their crime. An open door or an open window translates to opportunity for the criminal minded person. On the other side of the coin, a locked door or locked window equipped with a security system translates into to much work and not enough opportunity for the criminal. A criminal would rather go next door and find an easy entrance in than deal with lights and sirens and the police.

When you are investigating a security system be sure to look at the whole security package. A lot of security companies will lure you in with cheap set up packages and then hit you with high overhead packages to maintain their services to monitor your system.

Be wary of fly by night security companies that promise you a whole home security system at a price to good to be true but are evasive about the cost to monitor the system until you’re committed to a contract for service.
Your system can have all of the bells and whistles, including the ability to detect breaking glass or it can be as simple as detecting when a window or door is opened. The important thing is to get a system that isn’t to complex for you to use. If you don’t understand your system and you don’t use it, it won’t do you any good to have it.

When it comes to monitoring your system, some companies tout the fact that they are locally monitored but it really doesn’t matter where the alarms are being monitored from. The systems all work by telephone lines and your alarm will get to a monitoring company two miles away just as quickly as it will get to a monitoring company two hundred miles away.
The important thing is to have twenty four hour professional monitoring by certified security monitors who are trained to dispatch the police, fire or ambulance to your residence when an alarm goes off no matter where they are actually located.
A security system is ultimately worth the money you invest in it because it can act as your extra set of eyes when you’re not watching to make sure you’re safe in your own home or business.
