Wind turbine blades and its benifits.

Depending upon your location, your options for blades will change drastically.

It’s pretty clear that this century will be plagued by intensified struggle for energy and this will unavoidably push up prices, lead to sporadic scarcity and cause a scramble for reserves among the world’s main economic blocks.Presently, the most capable and established renewable energy technology appears to be wind power. Wind energy will not only be able to have a say in securing energy sovereignty and climate goals in the future, it could also turn a severe energy supply situation into a prospect in the form of commercial benefits, technology research, exports and employment.

To meet these challenges, the number and size of wind turbines has increased strongly in recent years, and the material used to make wind turbine blades has improved significantly.
This growth is likely to expand considerably, more than ever with the setting up and function of very large numbers of wind turbines in offshore wind parks. These will in effect serve as large power plants that generate electric power nonstop to the grid. One hiccup exists, though. After many years of experimentation and studying, no one yet has been able to design the perfect wind turbine blade for all situations.

Wind turbine blades, or any propeller for that matter are planned in such a way that a rotating force can be transformed into forward energy or vice versa. However, a blade which is intended to create forward force such as those used in household electric fans, are not good candidates for catching the wind and converting it into rotational force to turn a generator.

The ultimate goal of any blade design is to catch as much of the wind as possible so that the generator is able to achieve and sustain a minimum number of revolutions per minute. The larger the surface area of the blade, the more wind it can catch. At the same time, the larger the blade, the heavier it is as well.
