Winter has come as in many other countries. In this period of the year we have got to be prepared against possible outbreak of the flu. Despite the fact that is one of the most common diseases in the USA,Dangers of Influenza Articles only several people know much about this illness. Let us examine it and remind the public why the flu might be dangerous and what causes this disease.

It is a wide known fact that the flu is a contagious disease. It is one of the most common types of the diseases especially in winter time in many countries of Eastern Europe. Usually if the person is infected by influenza, he might experience several mild symptoms such as cough, fever and tiredness. However, if these symptoms and concernedly the illness are untreated for the long period of time, it might lead to serious complications in the long run and even result in death of the person. So far there is no effective prevention against this illness apart from vaccination, which is widely used both in the USA and other countries. However, one should get the vaccine several months before the outbreak of the flu can occur. Most of the medical professionals hold the belief that the best time to be vaccinated against this illness is the period between October and November: one should try to get vaccinated against this illness as early as possible and do not delay this until December, though if you might be vaccinated in this month as well. According to statistical information up to 20% of the population of the USA is infected by the flu each year.  There are several groups of people who are traditionally at risk for the flu complications. People who belong to this group must be vaccinated each year in order to reduce the chances of being infected by this disease. So first of all let us examine who belongs to the group of old people.

Actually everyone who is older than 54 years belongs to the group of high risk. Why? The answer lies in the fact that these persons already have some serious health problems which might impede their possibilities to cure from the illness effectively. However, young children (by young in this case is usually meant persons who are 6-7 years old) can face some complications as well. This is due to the fact that they still have weak immune system and thus they might face some serious complications as well.  Just as nursing job resume is imperative for the nurse to be accepted to the hospital and the objective is a prerequisite that this resume will be read so the vaccination is the best means that can insure the groups of high risks, that the disease will not contacted.
