Hostile Work Environment. Are You Caught in the Middle?

Everyone who has ever worked in a stressful environment will attest to the harm it does to our minds and bodies. The new manager, much younger, thinks he or she knows all. The company has cut back and eliminated jobs and downloaded the extra work to the rest of the staff. The idea of unfairness finds the path through your brain. You feel trapped. This hostile work environment is really getting to you.

If you find your self in this situation you can do something about it. You can do one of three things:

Look for another job. With the present economic situation you may have a tough time with finding new employment. You may find another situation such as you now face.

Stay where you are. Stress is the silent killer. It will not go away.

Work for yourself.

There are three paths you might consider working for yourself.

Sell the skills you have. Be a consultant. Clean office buildings. Tutor children or teens.

Open a shop. This is not as easy as it seems. It takes a lot of money and time. Most businesses take at least five years to produce the first profit. Will you be in a position to handle the finances for that long a time?

Work online at home. This is the easiest tactic you should consider. And the least expensive.

What you will require. A computer. A corner where it will sit. A website.

You probably have the computer set up in your home. That leaves the website. Even if all you know what to do with your computer is to browse the net, you have enough skills to build a website. It is that easy. I did it at age seventy five.

With a website set up you can advertise your skills. Perhaps you presently work in an office. Your website concept might be all about your hobby, pet, fitness program, hiking trails, or your health. You must have a skill someone wants. Online affiliate marketing is huge. Thousands of companies want you to place links from your website to theirs. When your visitors click the link and buy something from that company you earn a commission. Remember the internet never sleeps. People around the world shop 24/7. While you sleep your website makes money.

The best thing about this is you set yourself up over a period of time. Yes it takes time to build a website and bring visitors to it, but it is a step you can take while in that stressful position. When you are ready you just may want to say adios to your stressful job.
