Make a Professional Video resume

You have a small window of opportunity to sell yourself to an employer and if you do it right, it can let people know that you are the right person for the job.  

A video resume isn’t just about your qualifications, experience etc. It is about your personality. And that’s what a good professional video resume does. It tells employers about the kind of person that you are. The soft skills that are difficult to communicate in a written resume can be shared much more easily in a video resume.

There are things you can do to make your video resume more professional. The way you dress is incredibly important. Think of it like meeting your interviewer in person and dress accordingly. The environment that you create your resume in is also just as important. Don’t stand in front of a dirty wall or a cluttered desk. Make sure that the only thing that catches the eye in your video is you.

Your body language is also important. You don’t want to slouch. It’s generally a good idea to sit straight and try to avoid fidgeting. Smiling and maintaining a friendly disposition helps. Pretend that the video you are recording is an actual face to face conversation with your future employer. Don’t do anything that you wouldn’t do in a face to face situation.

And lastly keep it the right length. Aim for 90 seconds or so. Think of it like a presentation. You want to include the most important facts in it and avoid anything that is unnecessary information. This is your introduction, keep it simple and professional.
