Some people consider themselves lifelong students and will spend their entire lives continuing to learn everything they can about the things they are interested in.  New techniques and procedures are commonly discovered by people like this, who continually research and learn in not just their selected field but those that are related, as well.  They want to work hard for a future that will be secure and profitable, one that they can easily depend on when they are no longer able to support themselves. 

If you want to become amazing at something, you must love it. You must love to do it and learn about it and experience it.  If you are working hard to earn a degree in the business that your father chose for you however you do not see a future in, you are wasting your time. You do not want to advance in something which is going to make you unhappy your whole life.  You are going to be experienced and ready if you go into a career that you truly love and want to spend all your time doing.  You will be ready for the responsibilities and willing to take them on when you're happy in your position.  If you happen to be miserable and unhappy on daily basis that you have to get up and go to work, you need to change careers.  It's illogical to work hard toward a future you are going to hate.

Advance as far as you can by getting a great deal of education.  Take classes to initially learn all you can and then follow up with refresher courses throughout the years.  Get an education in things that are related to your field so that you can be cross trained to do other people’s jobs, as well.  Your education will impress the right people.  To get a promotion or advance in the company you are in, a higher education, extra training and experience will get you in faster than those without those extra efforts.  The time and effort you put into getting your education will pay off when the upper management realizes everything you know.
 
If you have decided to open your own business, you will want to impress the clientele with your expertise.  You can advance your career further than you ever thought if you put the time into it that it deserves.   You cannot expect to get things or for things to simply happen without you putting something into it. You need to be qualified for those promotions you want.

If you know that there is a real need for your field in your location and are considering opening your own business, your career advancement will rely on your own willingness to work hard.  Most people do not have their careers handed to them overnight.  It takes hard work and dedication to really become the success you want to be.
