In deciding what avenue to pursue in the work home arena,Options in Working From Home Articles it’s important to know your options; as there are three main avenues for home employment and whichever one you decide will ultimately change your future.

Employee

If you decide to seek out a work home company as an employee, you have to understand that this decision is no different from outside job. The only difference is the lack of supervision and the benefit of not having a commute; though your expectations and duties are no different than a job on the work site.

Independent Contractor

If you decide to work on a company assignment or contract your services with a company, then you have room for flexibility and less pressure. Though there are still terms that must be agreed to and the responsibilities can get demanding. It is important to read the contact from the client carefully before signing or vice versa if you are contracting your work, it is best to be professional, create contract agreements and have everything lined out.

Reading your IC (Independent Contractor) contract can keep you in good standing with the company as well as keep you knowledgeable of provisions when leaving a company; as some companies restrict having another job along side of the project at hand, discussing job details online or off, along with not being able to work with a competing company after resignation or termination. Some contracts may even prohibit working in the same field altogether, competitive company or not. Be aware of this. You can be prosecuted if you are caught violating any regulations signed in the agreement. So know what you’re signing.

Business

Finally if you decide to go in business for yourself then you virtually make the rules (not the same if you are franchising or working in direct sales under a business such as Mary Kay or Tupperware). If you are creating your own business, you work when you want. But that doesn’t make it less harder. In fact, you’ll have an even tougher time because in the beginning, you’ll be doing most of the work. You’ll probably be wearing ten different hats all at once, but if you believe in your product and your service, it'll be worth it in the end. Research your field, your competition, and know the rules of getting registered in your area. And realize that despite what great idea or invention you have, it does take time and patience to reach success.
