Multiple credit and non-credit programs are offered by the college for the aspirant students. Brief HistoryFounded in 1975, the college operated as a college without walls for twenty years. In 1989 the state legislation was enacted allowing the Somerset residents attend the college in county tuition rates. Originally it was created as a post secondary vocational and technical community college. In following years the two year community college has grown substantially and today controls around 11,000 students and 2,000 different classes. Campus 4862 students were there in credit courses and another 7.040 in non-credit courses. Located in Salisbury on the eastern shore of Maryland in United States , the Wor-Wic Community College serves Worcester , Wicomico and Somerset Counties . Campus is about two hundred acres in Salisbury . There are additional campuses spread over different areas. Highlights of the main campus are Henson Hall home of nursing and radiologic technology programs. Criminal Justice academy, student's center, and child care facilities are other highlights of the campus. Programs Offered Both credit and non-credit programs are offered by the college. Credit programs include accounting, computer studies, business, electronics, and several others. Similarly among the non-credit programs are business and supervision, child care, computers, customized training, health and safety and many others like industry, trades, transportation, and insurance. Unique Features Wor-Wic Community College offers associate degrees on completion of 60 credit hours are offered to students. In fact the academy offers a lot of educational flexibilities. Self paced courses, valuable field experiences at work site, credit awarding proficiency examination are available. However, the premier unique feature is the request for course substitution/waiver; only one of its types in educational institutions in the state that makes the college stands out in the crowd.
