HTC Legend - Brimming With Features

Released in March 2010, the HTC Legend has proven to be one of the most popular smartphones to date for the manufacturer. Much more than just a phone, this attractive device is a superb web browser, MP3 player and digital camera.

The dimensions of the HTC Legend are relatively compact, and it is lightweight at just 126 grams. The appearance of the phone is striking and stylish. This is thanks to a brushed metal finish, which is referred to as an "aluminium unibody" meaning the casing is manufactured from a single piece of metal giving it a luxurious appearance.

The screen is an impressive feature of the HTC Legend. Measuring 3.2 inches it utilises AMOLED capacitive touchscreen technology. So not only does it provide an exciting interactive means of navigating the HTC Sense UI, but allows images and videos to be displayed in astounding quality thanks to a pixel resolution of 320x 480. An alternative method of navigating options within the menus is provided thanks to a thumb operated optical trackpad, similar to the ones found on several Blackberry models.

Because of the high levels of technology provided within the HTC Legend, an array of versatile features offers appeal to all manner of mobile phone users. Dedicated applications offering direct access to Google, including Search, GMail and GMaps are included. A versatile internal media player is provided to keep music fans entertained for hours on end. This can support a large number of both music and video file formats. Additional entertainment features include a stereo FM radio player and a selection of games.

Class 10 versions of both GPRS and EDGE provide the HTC Legend with its primary method of connecting to cellular networks as well as the internet in areas with little or no 3G coverage. In areas which are covered by 3G, access to the internet is provided thanks to a HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. This also operates alongside an HSUPA connection at 2Mbps. In locations where a wireless internet router is located, the HTC Legend utilises Wi-Fi technology in order to gain a faster internet connection. Tasks such as backing up media files and contact info can be carried out by connecting to other compatible hardware devices, thanks to Bluetooth and micro USB connections.

As well as impressive software and applications, the HTC Legend also impresses on the hardware front. A 5 MP digital camera is provided to cater to both budding photographers as well as those who just like to take spontaneous snaps. A raft of features is included within the camera which aims to simplify the task of taking great quality images. The camera can also shoot video footage in similarly high quality.
