Relevant Translation: Common Goal of All Translators But Not Reached By All

The quality of a translation is - or should be at least - a consideration in almost any area of activity. Producing a relevant translation is one concrete goal in measuring this type of quality.

In a multilingual world, some people find some complexities and difficulties in communication. It is not because of having different electronic devices to make communication easy, or not having any at all, but it is because of a lack of knowledge of learning different languages and due to poor translation services available. There are two ways of how to render foreign languages to one another. One is translation, which is the process of converting written text from one language to another. And the second one is interpreting, which is the process of conveying or rendering a verbal message from one language to another.

In the translation industry, translators and interpreters have this common goal of converting languages, and it is to provide and produce a good high-quality of translation or in other simple words, to provide a relevant translation. But what is relevant translation? How do we know if the translation is relevant or not? And why is it important in translation and interpreting services?

Most often, translators and even translation companies would make high claims, telling the global market that they are professional and they can provide relevant translations. Well, I guess that is the common tactics that corporations would employ, in order to attract clients and their audience. However, the issue here is that even though many of the translators and translation companies try hard to produce a quality translation, but still their efforts are often is not enough and thus, they cannot provide a relevant translation product.

When we say relevant translation, it refers to what is right or what is an appropriate, well-justified, well-suited, idiomatic and adequate translation of such terms, messages and meanings of the documents to be translated. Relevant translation should be the result of every translation process; however, the unfortunate fact is that, not all translation work is relevant. Relevant translation has a form of language identity and traits of linguistic unity. Relevant translation is important to every documents and even interpreting services made. Without relevant translation, disastrous mistakes may affect one’s dignity; it’s either the translator’s dignity or the dignity of the clients and business corporations.

Businesses, legal counsel and educational institutions often seek translation services due to the reason of giving their customers a better product and better services, to increase demand for their products or services, and gain greater exposure. In addition, translation services are one of the factors that help business corporations to succeed and progress.
