On August 24, 1992 hurricane Andrew landed in Homestead, Florida laying a path of destruction as it moved through the state. A huge effort was made by local authorities and emergency service agencies to provide better methods and technology for the detection, and tracking of such storms. The one good thing that happened as a result of this storm was that it motivated the locals to better prepare themselves for the future.
