They also cost much less than their competitors. Today, netbooks are smaller and contain more computing technology giving them the edge over notebook computers.

Handheld PC`s are the predecessor to netbooks. These types of computers have the same features that one would see in laptops such as larger hard drives and ergonomically friendly keyboards that make for more comfortable use. They were first introduced to the public in the 1990`s although they lack many of the standard features of today`s netbooks such as Bluetooth capabilities and Wi-Fi capabilities and were less popular with the public.

The first models of netbooks, introduced by Asus in 2007, had excellent features such a small 7-inch screen, smaller keyboard, and solid disc drives. They all ran on their own modified Linux operating systems and were made specifically for video gaming, multimedia, or business purposes.

Netbooks are readily available all over the market with advancements coming in the near future. There is high potential of growth in improving the netbooks making them faster and better than any other computer out there. With the abundance of netbook providers in the market, it is becoming nearly impossible to find a netbook that best suits your needs. What makes it even more difficult is that the same hardware modules are built into almost all netbooks.

Asus was the first and is now the best selling netbook on the market. Their best model, the Asus 1005HA, runs like a `super computer`. It has a 160 GB hard drive, 10.1 inch screen, Intel Atom processor, Bluetooth capabilities, and Wi-Fi connection. The size of the keyboard is approximately 90 percent of the size of a regular keyboard.

The second best selling netbook is the Acer Aspire I. This computer is very compact and is priced relatively low compared to other netbooks. It gives the best value for the price and has gained intense support from the computer market. Some of the features of this netbook include a 10.1 inch screen, Windows 7 Starter, 1 GB of RAM, Intel Atom N450 processor, a six cell battery, and a 160 GB hard drive.

The third best selling netbook is the Lenova Idea Pad S12. This computer has a 12 inch screen, weighs approximately 3 1/2 pounds, Windows XP, full sized keyboard, a six cell battery, and an Intel Atom N270 Single Core processor. It is lightweight so it`s easy to take it with you wherever you need it to go without losing any of its optimal features.

Toshiba came into the market a bit later than other companies. Their best selling netbooks have features very similar to the Lenova brand netbooks and are uniquely designed. The HP mini also ranks up there with Toshiba and came into the market a little later as well. Both brands of netbooks are extremely durable, lightweightArticle Submission, and can be taken anywhere.
