So, it is profitable to go in for a bigger sized hard drive if you have big needs and are thinking of storing data for a long period of time.

There are three kinds of connectors for external hard drives. USB 2.0, SATA and Fire Wire and the three connectors. The commonly used connector is USB. However, SATA and Fire Wire are better in terms of speed and performance than USB. The speed of SATA is 6 times faster as compared to Fire Wire.
