In the early 90's Adobe Systems Inc. of San Jose,Converting Adobe Acrobat PDF file to MS Word files - do it easier! Articles CA changed the way we use computers.  They developed the PDF (Portable Document Format) program.  This program allowed users to develop large documents as an integrated whole by converting text, graphs, clipart and pictures into a graphic rather than a text format.  Each document became a sort of “photo album” made up of individual page that were “snapshots.”  In this way, once the document was completed and formatted, it couldn't be altered by anyone who didn't have the original authoring password.  This was a perfect solution for businesses and other organizations that wanted to develop, transmit, store and retrieve documents that they didn't want changed. But there is a problem with this “fixed in place” format.  Because it was password protected and, really, a different type of document altogether than most computers are capable of utilizing for any purpose other than viewing, the documents have a limited usability factor.   Without the original authoring password it's not even possible to “cut and paste” a portion of the document that you might want to use in another application. The solution to this dilemma comes in the form of PDF to Word Converter programs.  These programs give us the capability of taking all or part of the information from a PDF file and converting it into a Word document.  Think of these programs in much the same vein as a program like “Photoshop” © that you would use to alter or edit a jpeg or other picture file.  In essence, that is what you are doing.  You are making the “snapshot” of the PDF file accessible to editing in a MS Word program.  PDF to Word Conversion programs are plentiful and readily accessible.  The first and most obvious place to look for them would be at your local software or office supply store.  By purchasing the actual “firmware” version of the program you will always be assured of having the original discs should you need to reload the program or transfer it to another computer.  Another alternative, of course, is to download a program from the internet.  A quick search will reveal dozens of available programs ranging in price from around $20.00 to several hundred dollars depending on the amount of functionality you might need.  There are also a number of “free” PDF to Word Converter Programs available.  Be aware, though, that “free” programs are frequently laced with malware that you don't want on your computer.PDF to Word Conversion programs are tremendously useful tools.  They can take the information that was previously inaccessible in a program and make it available for editing, transferring or copying.  Of course one must always be mindful of plagiarism and copyright issues.  Having a PDF to Word converter program, though, is a vital tool for the modern computer user.
