Create a Password for a Windows 7 User Account

When you update your computer operating system to Windows 7 from Windows XP or Windows Vista. Have you ever create a Windows 7 password to password protect your computer? As you know, a Windows 7 password is first liner to protect your computer data and file from unauthorized users. If not, please follow the steps listed below to protect your computer data.

As you know, a Windows 7 password is first liner to protect your computer data and file from unauthorized users. If not, please follow the steps listed below to protect your computer data.

Option 1: Create Windows 7 Password for User Account

Step 1. Log on to your target Windows 7 account.

Step 2. Open the Account screen by clicking Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, and User Accounts.

Step 3. Click on the Create a password for your account link.

Step 4. Type in a new password, and then type it again to confirm it. If you want a password hint, type a hint in. otherwise, you can skip that field.

Note: Remember that anyone using the computer will be able to see the hint.

Step 5. Click on the Create Password button.

Step 6. Your Account is now Password protected.

Option 2: Create Windows 7 Password for another User Account

Step 1. Log on to an administrator account in Windows 7 system.

Step 2. Open the Account screen by clicking Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety, and User Accounts.

Step 3. Click on the Manage another account link.

Step 4. Click on the other account you want to select.

Step 5. Click on the Create a password link.

Step 6. Type in a new password, and then type it again to confirm it. If you want a password hint, type a hint in. otherwise, you can skip that field.

Note: Anyone using the computer will be able to see the hint.

Step 7. Click on the Create Password button.

Step 8. The other Account of your computer is now Password protected.

Tips:

1. The password that you create should be 8 characters long at least, consisting of numbers, letters and symbols. Meanwhile it should be easy for you to remember while hard for others to guess.

2. Create a Windows password reset disk for this account. Otherwise, you need to use a powerful Windows password recovery tool such as Rekeysoft Windows Password Recovery when you forgot Windows 7 password.

3. The password in Windows 7 in case sensitive. If your password contains capital lettersFind Article, they must be typed the same way every time you log on.
