Dynamic GP Barcode Custom Solutions Notes

When you are at the point of automation your Warehouse Management routines with barcode scanners and batch or real time integration with your ERP or MRP system, such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, formerly popular under Great Plains eEnterprise and Dynamics names...

We are favoring both approaches and we have both out-of-the-shelf products as well as our Dynamics GP programmers are trained to modify or extend our existing product codes to fit your requirements.  In this small publication we would like to offer you Great Plains Barcoding highlights:

1.       Barcode Labels Printout.  There are several places in Dynamics GP logic, where you may decide to print Barcode Labels for your Inventory items.  Very popular approach prints labels at the point of Purchase Receipt in GP Purchase Order module.  Other approaches might be associated with Inventory Cycle count, Item Management Screen.  Plus, if you are in retail business, where you sell Jewelry, Food, or other uniquely manufactured or packaged items, you may decide to print Barcode labels from Serial or Lot Management Screens

2.       Label Printing Tools.  You can consider Dynamics GP Report Writer for very simple labels, however for large scale printing and professional design we recommend to deploy Crystal Reports or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, also abbreviated as SSRS.  Crystal Reports could be called with VBA scripts (you will need GP Modifier with Customization Site Enabler license) or Dynamics GP Dexterity customization

3.       Barcode Scanning.  Normally you have to consult your Dynamics GP Partner to understand barcode scanner server functionality or how you could upload scanned information.  We offer various barcode scanning import plug-ins.  The most popular are Point Of Sales (where you import scanned items in real time to Sales Invoice) and Inventory Count

4.       Warehouse Management and Barcode Automation.  Here you typically have unique requirements, associated with picking lists and packing slips.  If you are in Sea shipping business, you might need industry specific Bill of Lading.  We offer various reports, supporting international requirements, including such languages as Portuguese (including Brazil), Spanish (all Latin America), Chinese (have Chinese speaking programmer in staff), Russian (author of the article is happy to help you), Arabic, Lithuanian, Latvian
