Microsoft Dynamics GP is successor of popular mid-size ERP and MRP application Great Plains Dynamics and eEnterprise. We still see large number of GP Dynamics customers on old version: 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.50, 5.0 on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as well as on Pervasive SQL 2000 and Ctree.

There is always good idea to keep your ERP system and computer network on the newest versions,Dynamics GP Chicago and Midwest: Great Plains VAR and Technology Partner Articles but we respect the decision to freeze IT budget and maintain the old version of Great Plains.  In this small publication we would like to come through Dynamics GP support highlights:

1.       Dynamics GP Consultant and where to search for one.  If you are small organization on Microsoft Small Business Financials, you can look for independent Great Plains Consultant to have her or him support your Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP on case by case basis: version upgrade, new integrations and light customizations, data integrations and conversions.  If you are larger organization – you may think about leveraging consulting company expertise versus one person operations (independent Dynamics GP practicing consultant).  It is always a good idea to call Microsoft Dynamics GP subdivision and ask for local or regional Dynamics GP VAR recommendation.  Another idea is to open google, yahoo or msn and search there

2.       Great Plains old version support options.  Here you need to be sure that your chosen Dynamics GP Partner carries consultants and programmers, who are trained to support old versions.  The problem for you might lay in the fact, that some traditional Dynamics GP Resellers are making their money on new Dynamics GP software licenses sale.  In this scenario they simply don’t need to retain old version Dynamics GP Guru

3.       Dynamics GP Reporting and Customization.  Great Plains reports are traditionally designed in GP Report Writer, Dexterity, Crystal Reports, SSRS, Microsoft Access, Excel.  Customizations are traditionally coded in Great Plains Dexterity, eConnect and SQL Stored Procedures
