It is not unheard of for a company to go out of business after losing all of its data, in spite of the fact that they had bought a very good program, but never completely installed it or set it to run a backup on a regular basis.

One of the biggest mistakes you could ever make as a company owner or someone in the IT department is to not test your backup software. Especially with older packages that are not quite as automatic and reliable as the ones today, you may not really even know when the last backup was done. And, we all know that an old backup is no good at all.

There are several very good server backup software package available online right now that are easy to install, easy to program, and even easier to restore the data from. Although you may be one of those people who think that nothing bad will ever happen to your data, you have to be realistic about the value of the information that you have on your server. If it were gone tomorrow, would your company be able to survive?

Simply buying a backup package is not enough these days. There are thousands of viruses, millions of pieces of spam, and who knows how many malicious people out there who would just love to destroy or alter your data – and you have to work to defeat them before they defeat you. No matter how secure you think your network is, and how sturdy your building is, there will be a time when you need to rely on a backup, and by buying one of the new breed of packages today, you will be able to rely on your data’s integrity.
