How to fix Device Manager Error: Code 42 to Code 52

Device manager a very essential component of your computer that manages the devices attached to your computer like Printer, USB, and Scanner etc. By having knowledge of Device manager error code you can resolve problems without any help of computer expert.

In the last article I had gave you information related to device manager error code. In this article I will let you know about the device manager error codes 42 to error code 52 which are as:

 

Code 42: Windows cannot load the device driver for this software because there is a duplicate device already running in the system.

 

Reason: This error occurs when a bus driver incorrectly creates two identically named devices,How to fix Device Manager Error: Code 42 to Code 52 Articles or when a device with a serial number is discovered in a new location before it is removed from the old location.

 

Solution: Uninstall the device driver from one of the location.

 

Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems

 

Reason: Windows Unable to load the device driver due to corrupted data.

 

Solution: Run the Diagnostic tool “Hardware devices are not working or not detected in Windows” on the Microsoft Fix it center.

 

Code 44: An application or service has shut down this hardware.

Reason: This problem occurs when device driver was stopped by other software on the computer.

 

Solution: Close the unnecessary application and then start the desired application or service.

 

Code 45: Currently, this hardware is not connected to the computer.

 

Reason: This device was not attached to the computer. If Device Manager is started with the environment variable DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES set to 1, any previously attached deices that are not present are displayed in the device list and assigned this error code.

 

Solution: For solution of this problem properly attach the device, Restart your computer and then use the device application.

Code 46: Windows cannot gain access to this hardware device because the operating system is in the process of shutting down.

 

Reason: The device is not available because the computer is shutting down and device can’t be used at his stage.

Solution: You need not worry.  The hardware device works correctly the next time you start your computer.


Code 47: Windows cannot use this hardware because it has been prepared for safe removal, but it has not been removed from the computer.


Reason: This problem occurs when a user uses the safe removal application to prepare the device for removal. Restarting the computer brings the device online if the user does not want to disconnect the device from the computer.


Solution: Connect the device and Restart the computer to make the device available.


Code 48: The software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver.


Reason: This problem occurs when the device driver is incompatible to the Windows operating system you possess.


Solution: Obtain a new device driver compatible with your Windows operating system from your hardware vendor.


Code 49: Windows cannot start this hardware because the system hive is too large (exceeds the Registry Size Limit).


Reason: The system hive is a permanent part of the registry reserved for saving hardware configuration settings. This problem occurs when not enough space is available for saving data of new device driver. Specific devices that are not connected to this computer but still are listed in the system hive might cause this error.


Solution: Uninstall the device driver that is no longer required. To view the devices attached to your computer, see “View Devices That Are Not Currently Present”. Then run Device Manager to uninstall the particular device.


Code 51: This device is currently waiting on another device or set of devices to start.


Reason: This problem occurs when a device driver is dependent on the other to start its working. This error is likely to have occurred due to the failure of a Simple Peripheral Bus (SPB) controller, such as an I2C or Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) controller; the controller’s failure causes attached devices to fail as well.


Solution: Check the solution with error code on Microsoft support site and diagnose the reason of failure.


Code 52: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.


Reason: The unsigned or corrupted driver could be the reason of this problem.


Solution: Reinstall the device driver and get latest updates for it. Search for possible solutions for your particular device. You also have an option f using Automated troubleshooting Service available at the Microsoft Support Web site.
