Tape backups for the most part are not very trustworthy at all. They need constant checkups and if they get the slightest bit of dust on them they will get ruined. Imagine loosing all of the important data that you have spent your time to back up only for it to get destroyed.

There are so many ways for you to backup your data securely rather then using tape backups. It’s not uncommon for your tape backups to record blank. If you are currently using a tape backup as your method of backing up your data then it’s important that you make sure that you have actually been backing it up. There are many problems that can occur if your equipment is not properly cleaned. And if you have been doing consistent checkups then you might be in for a very nasty shock.

I suggest that if you are looking for a way to back up your data that you stay far away from using tape backups. Let me tell you from first hand experience that it’s the most awful feeling when you think that you are doing the right thing to back up your files and folders on your computer only to find out at the worst time that it was not being done at all.
