In this small article we will go beyond standard integration, which comes with GP

We will take a look at Alba Spectrum integration which allows you to import RMS transactions to Microsoft Dynamics GP either on AR or SOP transactions level

  • Technology.  Integration uses SQL Stored Procedures to make integration speedy.  It can handle tens of thousand transactions per day and more.  Limitations to the transactional level are actually on Microsoft RMS side.  It doesn’t require eConnect,Microsoft Dynamics GP Integration with MS RMS: Sales Order Processing – overview Articles however it duplicates some eConnect logic, while dragging transactions from RMS Headquarters module
  • Custom Logic.  In RMS you typically have custom logic, which goes beyond standard ERP application business processes: gift certificates, overtenders – when you give cashier 10 dollars and get change, exchange – when you return one item, pick another and settle the difference.  You should have your requirements for business specific customization.  In this case integration could be tailored
  • RMS integration with GP.  In some cases you might need changes in GP be sent to RMS – custom integration logic should be able to create different types of RMS worksheets, typically originated on HQ level.  The examples could be: in RMS you create new customer which needs to be pushed to Great Plains, or in RMS you create new items to by translated into GP inventory module
  • New Items import into RMS.  If you are receiving new inventory items on the daily basis, you might need automation, which should simply push items in RMS outside of RMS item creation Wizard.  Good option is importing items to GP and then integrating them to RMS via custom logic with sophisticated price matrix, based on cost.
