It is common scenario where you are coming through sales cycle, acquiring software licenses and implement ERP system through one consulting organization and then when you are entering in phase two with custom programming requirements then you are selecting somebody who is more technology consulting oriented.

Sometimes when you are dealing with larger nationwide reseller it is possible to do both phases through them but the hourly rates might be higher.  In this small publication we would like to come through technology consulting firm profile and selections criteria.  Our paper might be not too practical in the case when our reader is programmer but it is practical if you are IT director or decision maker:

1. Secondary ERP consulting market.  VAR staffed by software developers might not necessary be positioned to pursue initial ERP licenses selling.  Such things as telemarketing,SAP Business One Customization Projects Chicago, Atlanta and Sao Paulo Brazil Articles executive demos and seminars where you have to hire and maintain strong sales team backed by sales engineers impose heavy overhead and in essence shift focus from technical project management and programmers concentration on their direct duties.  In the case of Business One the system is not too complex and often we see technical consultant who is equally good in functional consulting and user training.  Initial licenses selling oriented firm may have one or couple of professionals who have some software development experience but there is common scenario where these firms are subcontracting coding projects to software development factories or independent programmers

2. Remote versus Local support.  Remote user training and initial implementation are probably better handled by somebody who is local to your office or having arrangement with your organization to travel onsite and stay in hotels.  Going in production with your new Small Business ERP system sometimes requires ‘babysitting’ or in other words being in your office just in case is something happens and you may expect many questions asked by system users in the first several days in production.  When you are in stable situation and users are comfortable to perform their daily duties in SAP B1 then ‘babysitting’ or local presence are no longer required.  Modern remote support is done via phone conferences and web sessions where remote technician is sharing your computer monitor, keyboard and mice and if required you are seeing each other on the web cameras.  It is not uncommon when you cannot find somebody locally who is reasonably strong in programming and has experience in your industry niche

3. Customization Tools.  When you are interviewing prospective organization to do programming work you should check if they have experts in such tools as Software Development Kit or in the case of data migration Data Transfer Workbench and maybe iBolt and Scribe.  Try to sniff if they are really technical and not trying to demonstrate the desire to come through the learning curve and use your requirements as pilot project

4. International location ERP.  Picking up in the United States Business One is popular internationally in such regions as Brazil, China, Russian Federation and Europe.  If you are running high end SAP in the headquarters here in the USA then Business One is natural choice for smaller subsidiary overseas or in South America.  In order to retain control over your international branch accounting routines and reporting we recommend you to host their database and application server in the headquarters and open it via Citrix or Terminal Server

5. Please call us 1-866-304-3265, 1-269-605-4904, help@efaru.com.  We have local presence in Chicagoland, Southern California, Atlanta, South West Michigan, Houston and Dallas areas of Texas.
