Often when you are designing new franchise you have to provide accounting for your potential franchisees who are also supposed just to start up as small operations.  Consider also the situation where you are acquired by large enterprise and have to export from Business One your customers,SAP Business One Integration, Data Migration and Adoption Scenarios in Large Companies Articles vendors and historical documents to be imported to something like Oracle Financials, Microsoft Dynamics AX or formerly known as Axapta.  Let’s take a look at SAP B1 technology layers and integration possibilities with large Corporate ERP systems:

1. Three tiers are present: database server, application server and end user often called as client interface.  This configuration could be also found in high end Manufacturing Resource Planning systems including SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics AX.  This means that even being suggested for small enterprise B1 at the same time provides high protection to data entry and modification.  Application server is often considered as facilitator is such mechanisms as data recovery when your transaction is not processed all the way through.  At the same time three tiers architecture discourages you from direct data feeding and modification via SQL insert, update or stored procedure leaving this job to application server layer.  What you can do on the SQL Server level is Select statements which could be used in custom reporting or data export

2. Business One as accounting offer in international franchise network.  The advantage here is the fact that it is localized in major world regions and you do not have to do Small Business Localization job prior to offering it to your international franchisees.  It is localized in Russian Federation, Brazil, South America, China and across South East Asia.  SB1 supports Unicode based alphabets and here we are talking about hieroglyphs or such languages as Chinese, Japanese and Korean.  User interface language could be associated with the user or switched with short keys meaning that you can control overseas facility financially or via internal audit

3. Corporate Financial Transactions Consolidation.  Popular method is to create company in your high end accounting and integrate GL entries from Business One every night or over regular time interval.  If you are deploying Dynamics GP then we would like to recommend exporting B1 GL records to text file or open its database via ODBC connection and deploy Integration Manager

4. Exporting master records and historical transactions from SAP BO.  It is possible to use queries created in user interface however if you have SQL programmers in your IT staff then it is probably more feasible to export large number of rows directly in SQL Select queries.  Table structure could be reviewed in Software Development Kit

5. Integration with external database.  We recommend you to consider SDK C# or VB programming project in Microsoft Visual Studio where you are creating SOAP XML Web Service to resolve operating system dependency to enable web service call from something like Linux hosted Ecommerce or EDI server
