There are so many people out there who have slow computers with Windows-based operating systems that really have no idea that they can make their computer faster if they just learned a few simple computer repair and maintenance tips. The problem is very bad; everyone can relate to errors,Slow Computer Repair Tips Articles slow startup times, lag and sometimes a computer is so slow that it simply refuses to do what you ask it to. In the multi-tasking world we live in, the ability to have several programs running on a PC at one time is vital, and we almost all have the potential to have computers like that, if only we knew better maintenance practices.

Defragment Your Hard Drive

This is extremely important for CPU maintenance. To explain what defragmenting does, you must first understand the problem. Your hard drive is always busy storing and opening up files. To perform efficiently, when your computer opens up files, it places the content in the part of the disk that is as close as possible. Over time, with bits and pieces of files scattered all over the place, the hard drive fails to perform the way it use to. The defragmentation process takes these files and simply puts them next to each other, so that it can find the information that it needs and deliver it to you promptly whenever you need it again. Medium and high frequency PC users should make a point to defragment their hard drive once every two months, or schedule a task scheduler to do it while you’re sleeping once a month.

Conserve Hard Drive Space

Make sure you conserve the space that your PC offers you. If you have too many movies and music, put them on an external disk drive, more than likely you watch videos once and generally do not want to see them again. People tend to use their hard drive up to the limit and it really hinders performance. If you need to use more than 70% of your hard drive, then you should get a new hard drive.

Watch What You Download

There are 2 types of people in this world: the type who install any software that tickles their fancy without reading anything in the installation wizard, and those who go through the installation step-by-step to make sure they know what the software wants to do to their computer. What many people do not realize is that it is a common practice by many sneaky and even some mainstream companies to bundle software without telling you in advance. Many times, you will download something that you need, like a media player for example. If you do not pay attention to the installation page, however, you will not see the message informing you that you are also installing a tool bar for a search engine. Over time this adds up to be a ton of software programs that you do not want, that not only take up too much space, but sometimes run at the same time, consuming performance resources.

If you pay attention to what you are doing on your computer, repair is not necessary to fix it, because after all, you can’t fix what isn’t broken.
