Although we don’t want something bad to happen,Tips Before You Repair Your Corrupted Windows Articles but admittedly something bad eventually will happen sooner or later with our Windows system. Depend on the level of the problems, some might only need you to restart the system and some might further push you to reinstall the Windows all over again. So here are some tips before you try to repair the problem.

First of all, you need to find out what are the main reasons behind the crash: viruses, worms, system files lost, registry error, hard disk damaged, etc. You need to do some checking to isolate the problem and which component or programs caused it before making further progress. You might need additional tools to do this. If so, first find a free solution. Internet is the best source for this. For instance, if you are suspicious that some malware caused the crash, you can find a free virus scanner like AVG Free or Avira. Panda ActiveScan (online scanner) also offers a free instant solution. But of course, if you cannot boot your system entirely, then you need an antivirus scanner that can run under DOS mode.

The Second tip from me is to start your Windows under Safe Mode (in this mode, Windows only loads basic system files, minimizing any possible problem). For doing this, restart your computer and press the F8 Key, and choose Safe Model. If you succeed to enter Windows this way, restart your Windows and run it under normal configuration. Anyway, under this safe mode, you can also uninstall any applications or device drivers if you recently have installed it and suspect it is the source of the problem.

When you restart you computer and the Windows prompt you that XXX file lost or corrupted, You need to reboot your computer with an emergency Windows boot CD and replace these files. You can make an emergency boot CD by yourself or using other third party solution to boot up you computer and then replace these lost/corrupted files.

When Windows cannot be repaired, you have to reinstall a fresh Windows. Please keep this in your mind that you must ensure your important data is safe. Because the data on your hard disk will be overwritten during installation. So my suggestion is backup all your important data to another hard disk before making this operation. Find a backup software that can run outside Windows.

Regarding Windows recovery tips, I suggest you to check out software like UBCD4Windows for recovery purpose. It’s free and has maximum potential to help you out in difficult situation in a case of Windows crash. But unfortunately you need at least intermediate knowledge to build the ready-to-use version of it. There is also a solution offered by Spotmau with their PowerSuite software. As explained in this Spotmau PowerSuite Review, it has almost everything you need to recover your Windows even in a state when it refuses to boot.
