Using a scanner provides great convenience.  You can scan and archive just about any document or hard copy ID card with a simply swipe.  Up until now,Uploading ID Cards with a Portable Scanner Articles however, scanners were too big haul around.  That means any scanning was performed in an office or home environment.  Now, that has all changed with the arrival of the convenient portable scanner.

It’s portable!
Like its name suggests, the portable scanner is just that – portable.  Its dimensions are no greater than a regular three-hole punch device (11.5 inches x 1.7 inches x 2 inches).  It’s so narrow that it can easily fit into a briefcase and taken to just about any destination.  That means you can even bring it along on for those long-distance business trips where you have to fly across country.  Not only is the portable scanner small in size, but also it’s extremely lightweight.  Weighing in at just 14 ounces, it weighs a bit less than a laptop computer.  What’s best of all, it doesn’t require its own power source.  Simply plug in a USB cable to the laptop and you’re ready to go.  It’s about as convenient and simple to use as a digital camera, only that it scans and uploads hard copy documents and ID’s.

It’s multi-functional
Not all scanners are able to scan and read any type of document.  Most portable scanners can scan and upload just about any type of hard copy document or ID.  That means you can scan regular and legal size documents, business cards, ID’s including drivers licenses and passports, and even photos.  It’s basically one powerful workhorse that gets the job done, no matter what’s thrown its way.

Case in point
Let’s suppose that you are interviewing candidates for a job in a local coffee shop.   Usually, you would ask to see some ID to verify identification and then jot down the details, hoping not to forget crucial information.  With a portable scanner, you don’t have to rely on your skill on transferring information.  Simply swipe the ID cards into the portable scanning device and within seconds you’ll have a digitalized version of the ID card.  Now, when you return to your office, you can review all the IDs at your leisure.
